Houston Office Moving Tips

Posted by:

Most of us have had the opportunity to move from household to household, and we all know it can be a stressful event. But when you try to move an entire office things tend to get a little more complex.

Your business cannot have any hiccups in its service or miss any days, because that could lead to lots of lost profits. Every office move is unique and requires utmost preparation and a team of dedicated professionals. One similar piece of advice we will give for both residential moves and office moves in Houston or anywhere, is plan early.

Here are a few tips to help make your Houston office relocation as smooth as possible:

Create a Budget
Do some research and create a budget that includes the speedy relocation of all your most essential office items, and also some funds that will cover any unexpected costs along the way. Make sure you not only plan to pay for the labor it will take to complete the move, but also for permits and other important/necessary documents.

Schedule Your Move
It is best to begin the planning of your move at least 9-10 Months before the lease of your current office is up. You will want your move date to be around the same time your lease at your current office expires, usually before. If you must move a couple Months before your lease expires, see what your options are with the property manager.

Moving during the Summer months are the busiest of the year, so this usually means it will also be more expensive. Moving on the weekends may be more beneficial for your business, but might force you to raise the budget slightly. Be sure to take these 2 factors into consideration when planning your move.

Form an Internal Team
Make one of your employees a team leader who can tackle all the necessary tasks required for your Office Move. They can divide and delegate those tasks among other employees to ensure a speedy and successful move. This can also help alleviate the stress of only 1 or 2 individuals handling the entire move. Make sure to meet with your team often to ensure plans are moving at an acceptable rate to meet your schedule.

Keep Deadlines & Current Projects in Mind
If projects and deadlines fall near the scheduled move date, ensure they will not have a negative experience due to your office relocation. Remember communication is key! Be sure to communicate your move with all employees and clients in order to keep everyone happy. If you take on new projects close to your moving date, let your client know about your upcoming move.
