OVER 50 years of serving the greater Houston area

CHANNELVIEW

Channelview, Texas is a community located in eastern Harris County, Texas along the banks of the Houston Ship Channel, about 15 miles east of Houston, Texas. The area developed in the early 1900s as industries and transportation expanded along the ship channel, which became one of the busiest ports in the United States. Its strategic location helped Channelview grow into an important hub for petrochemical plants, shipping operations, and industrial businesses.

Historically, Channelview’s economy has been closely tied to the development of the Houston Ship Channel following the completion of the Houston Ship Channel Expansion Project of 1914. As shipping traffic increased, workers and families moved into the area, forming the residential communities that make up Channelview today.

One notable nearby landmark is San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site, where the decisive Battle of San Jacinto took place in 1836, securing Texas’ independence from Mexico. This historic site and its towering monument are just minutes from Channelview and serve as a reminder of the region’s important place in Texas history.

Today, Channelview offers a mix of residential neighborhoods, local businesses, and access to major industrial corridors. Its proximity to Houston, major highways, and the port system continues to make it an important part of the greater Houston metropolitan area.
